BBM finally coming to Android /Apple devices

Blackberry has confirmed BBM will be available as a free download for Apple and Android devices but not for Windows phones.
The move comes as the Wall Street Journal reports that Blackberry will lay off 40% of its staff before 2014.
Widening the appeal of BBM could be a clever way for the company to reinvent itself, said experts.
“Blackberry is having a tough time, sales are down, it is losing market to Windows phones and it needs to do something to stop the rot. This is as good a move as any,” said Chris Green, principal technology analyst at Davies Murphy Group Europe.
“Offering it across other platforms broadens the appeal of BBM,” he added.
The messanging will be available for Android devices running Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean while iPhones running iOS 6 or iOS 7 can also download it.
“With more than a billion Android, iOS and Blackberry smartphones in the market, and no dominant mobile messaging platform this is absolutely the right time to bring BBM to Android and iPhone customers,” Andrew Bocking, vice-president for BBM, was quoted as sayin

WHO: 6 HEALTH FACTS..

Fact 1
About half of mental disorders begin before the age of 14. Around 20% of the world's children and adolescents are estimated to have mental disorders or problems, with similar types of disorders being reported across cultures. Yet, regions of the world with the highest percentage of population under the age of 19 have the poorest level of mental health resources. Most low- and middle-income countries have only one child psychiatrist for every 1 to 4 million people.
Fact 2
Depression is characterized by sustained sadness and loss of interest along with psychological, behavioural and physical symptoms. It is ranked as the leading cause of disability worldwide.

Fact 3

On average about 800 000 people commit suicide every year, 86% of them in low- and middle-income countries. More than half of the people who kill themselves are aged between 15 and 44. The highest suicide rates are found among men in eastern European countries. Mental disorders are one of the most prominent and treatable causes of suicide.

Fact 4

War and other major disaster have a large impact on the mental health and psychosocial well-being. Rates of mental disorder tend to double after emergencies.

Fact 5

Mental disorders are among the risk factors for communicable and non-communicable diseases. They can also contribute to unintentional and intentional injury.

Fact 6

Stigma about mental disorders and discrimination against patients and families prevent people from seeking mental health care. In South Africa, a public survey showed that most people thought mental illnesses were related to either stress or a lack of willpower rather than to medical disorders. Contrary to expectations, levels of stigma were higher in urban areas and among people with higher levels of education.

How My Pastor Raped Me - 12-Year-Old Girl Confesses

A 12-year-old girl, Miss Ijeoma Mbiaka, on Wednesday narrated to DailyPost how the pastor of her church, Rhema Ministries in Oyeagu Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Rev Sampson Otisi allegedly lured her to a hotel, under the guise of conducting deliverance on her but ended up raping her all through the night.
Ijeoma, who is hard at hearing, told our reporter that she had gone to the church to seek prayers from the pastor so that she could hear loudly again.

She, however, said she was lured to the hotel and raped from 9 pm to the next morning and dumped in the hotel room, where she cried until hotel attendants rescued her.Speaking at the Magistrate Court Abagana after a court session, Ijeoma said she prayed all night reminding the pastor of the consequence of his act, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

The victim came to the court aided as a result of the injuries she sustained during the alleged act.According to her,

"It started on a Tuesday when I went to the church for prayers. I have not been hearing clearly with my ears for sometime, so I went to the pastor for prayers and when I told him my problem, he said I should stay behind that he will pray for me after everyone has gone"."After the session that day, he called me to the backyard and started praying for me. He poured anointing oil into my ear and mouth. He now ordered me to remove my dress and he poured some on my tummy and started massaging it. After sometime, he started putting his hand inside (Vagina), to which I objected. He said he will leave me if I do not want him to pray for me".

Ijeoma narrated that as usual the pastor had asked her to stay behind, that he will conduct a special prayer for her and her hearing will be okay again.

"After the service, only he and his friend were left, he said he will take me to the house and pray for me, but when I objected and told him that my father will kill me, he said I should not mind that nothing will happen to me. "He took me to a hotel, ran upstairs and came back and ordered me and his friend to come with him. He took us up and put his friend in another room and took me to a separate room. He ordered food for me and hot drink, to which I objected. He said the drink was part of the deliverance that I had to drink it. He forced it down my throat and when I started to feel sleepy he undressed me and inserted his 'something' into me; then he started pushing it in and pushing out."Even when blood was gushing out of me, he continued to push the 'thing' inside. I tried shouting but he covered my mouth, when I could not help myself, I started praying and telling him of the implication of what he was doing to me before God but he kept on".

Islamic group wants Miss World pageant moved out of Jakarta to Bali (endorsed)

Days after an Islamic group staged a protest against the organizers of the 2013 Miss World pageant, demanding that the pageant should not be held in Jakarta as it runs against their culture, the pageant organizers have been forced to move the final of the pageant to Bali - where they said today that it would be 'impossible' to stage the finale there, because of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, where world leaders and thousands of officials are expected to attend. The summit begins at the beginning of October while the pageant is scheduled to take place on September 28.

“I think people can appreciate how complex it would be to move everything to Bali. Just getting the venue and all the accommodation is impossible with APEC here" Nana Putra, executive director of organizer, told AFP.
The Miss World organizers have said they have no plans to cancel this year's event, vowing to petition Indonesian authorities to move the event back to Java. But also said they would use a back up venue in Indonesia if authorities don't change their mind.

Qatar 2022 decision may be a mistake –Blatter

Awarding the 2022 World Cup to Qatar may well have been “a mistake”, FIFA President Sepp Blatter said for the first time on Monday. Staging the tournament in the Middle East has caused much controversy because if it is held over its traditional dates in the middle of the year, players will have to contend with searing 50 degrees Celsius heat.
Calls to move the World Cup to later in the year, during the European winter, have also been unpopular as it will cause major disruption to domestic league competitions in countries such as Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France.
Asked by insideworldfootball.com about awarding Qatar the tournament, Blatter said, “It may well be that we made a mistake at the time.”
Blatter, who in May said it was “not rational” to play in Qatar in June and July, added, “On the other hand, you must also consider political and geo-political realities.
“The World Cup is FIFA’s biggest, if not only, global event. Who are we, the Europeans, to demand that this event has to cater to the needs of 800 million Europeans above all?
“I think it is high time that Europe starts to understand that we do not rule the world any more, and that some former European imperial powers can no longer impress their will on to others in far away places.
“We must accept that football has moved away from being a European and South American sport – it has become the world sport that billions of fans are excitedly following every week, everywhere in the world.”
Blatter hopes FIFA’s executive committee will endorse his proposal to switch the tournament to the winter.
If such a move is rubber-stamped, the Swiss added, “The next steps will include a close look at the international calendar and to establish what consequences the change would have.”
